MASTER SINGERS

An audition is required to become a member of this selected performance group of 10-16 singers. The ability to read music becomes more important as Master Singers perform at a more difficult level of music than Concert Choir. Singers in this small group need to blend, sing independently, have a strong sense of ensemble, and be clearly committed to performance.

ADVANCED BAND (Wind Ensemble)

Students in this course gain skill in playing advanced band literature and develop independence in reading and rhythmic skills. It requires a high degree of proficiency on an individual instrument. This course is for advanced students who have passed a rigorous audition and have demonstrated advance technical skills. Master musicianship, technique and performance related music theory skills will be emphasized.

JAZZ ENSEMBLE

The Jazz Ensemble provides an opportunity for students to take an active role in learning the concepts inherent in Jazz music. Students will learn Rock, Blues, Swing, and Latin styles as they work through method books, study music theory, prepare full ensemble concerts and learn techniques for improvisation. Students will perform in several concerts as well as attend concerts by local and national Jazz performers. Participation in the rhythm section for non-band members is by audition.

ROCK BAND

Do you play in a Rock Band? Do you want to do it right? Do you want to get an edge on all the other garage bands? Do you want to learn the entire aspects of being in a band including marketing, merchandising, web design and recording? This is your course. Open to students with experience on Bass, Piano, Guitar, Drums, Vocals and any other strange thing to give a band a fun, distinctive sound.
